Superintendent

Position Overview

NOVO Construction, Inc. is an industry leader in innovative construction solutions, dedicated to building exceptional spaces while fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Superintendent with strong organizational and communication skills to join our team. This role is based on-site, working closely with the Project Management team to ensure successful project execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Construction:

  • Conduct project job walks and prepare comprehensive logistics plans and construction approaches.
  • Provide constructability reviews.
  • Participate in subcontractor interviews.
  • Participate in the General Contractor proposal and interview process.
  • Develop preliminary project schedules and collaborate with the design team to refine project scope and timeline.

Field Operations:

  • Supervise and direct site activities for subcontractors and extended construction teams to ensure quality execution.
  • Manage subcontractor scopes, manpower, progress, and allocate resources to meet project schedules and client expectations.
  • Act as a primary liaison with the Owner/Client, coordinating all field operations and resolving complex issues in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Generate daily reports outlining site activities, progress, and key milestones.
  • Interface with building officials for permitting activities and sign-offs, ensuring compliance with all local regulations.
  • Work with NOVO Project Management Team.

Safety:

  • Maintain a safe, professional work environment for all project partners.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in collaboration with the Safety Director.
  • Conduct daily site walks, safety training sessions, and weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Coordinate and review Job Hazard Analysis and high-risk activities with the Safety Director and construction team.
  • Act as the main point of contact and responsible party regarding jobsite safety.

Scheduling:

  • Prepare, monitor, and update the Master Schedule in collaboration with the Project Management team.
  • Develop and manage 3-week rolling schedules, identifying potential impacts and proposing solutions to keep the project on track.

Meetings and Communication:

  • Lead weekly subcontractor and foreman meetings alongside the Project Manager.
  • Attend and contribute to Owner, Architect, and Contractor (OAC) meetings, providing progress updates and technical insights.
  • Review RFI, submittal, procurement, and change order logs, ensuring accurate project documentation and communication.

Technical Expertise:

  • Leverage construction experience to identify field issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor drawings for adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with architects, engineers, and trades to ensure seamless project integration.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent, with a focus on interior tenant improvement projects ranging from $5M to $50M.
  • OSHA 30, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, procedures, and Building Management Systems (BMS), including security, fire alarms, mechanical systems, electrical systems, data centers, and server rooms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and working with building officials.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Experience working within a corporate campus environment across multiple buildings, floors, or areas.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for night and weekend work as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and communicate clearly.
  • Occasionally required to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed for site inspections.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $140,000.00 to $185,000.00 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday on-site (40 hours per week).
